The images came out darker than they appeared on photoshop.  It worked out for some of the pictures but the first one is kind of hard to see.  I love horror movies so I wanted to make a series of horror movie clips.

INSTRUCTIONS for Final Critique
1) The final critique will happen in Art Building B, drawing studio, from 9-12 tomorrow (Friday!). You should arrive by 8:45 to set-up your computer and hang prints.
2) Your portfolio will be graded on technique, creativity, effort and quality of presentation. Please show your work to it's fullest advantage- cut boarders of prints evenly, hang works neatly, have digital files ready to project, set-up any additional props (mirrors, screens, or whatever) to project digital images onto.
3) All completed works will be posted onto the BLOG before class starts. Works posted after class will be given a grade reduction of -5%.
4) Write comments for each other students final works. The final comments should not suggest any changes (as the works are complete) but should look for connections between multiple works made by one person. Additionally you should look for trends and make comparisons between works from more than one student. Blog comments should be posted before class on Friday.

This is what I currently have of my landscape. The final image is supposed to look like the image below ( from http://www.fanpop.com/clubs/green/images/19838891/title/green-trees-wallpaper) but with two paths. I'm attempting to replace the ground with a diamond texture, the paths with a sapphire texture, and the sky with an obsidian texture. The trees will either have an emerald or ruby texture.

This is my landscape picture. I took the foreground from one of my photos of my cabin. The background is ski mountains.

For my portrait piece, I wanted to make series of scary pictures because I love horror films.  I used my laptop for this picture but I plan on using my camera over the weekend and try to make a collection of scary images.  I let a friend borrow my camera and I am not getting it back till tomorrow.

Here is my collage image so far; you could call it my own take on one of Ralph Goings' diner-style paintings. I'm not sure exactly why I chose this subject...maybe I just love ketchup and photo-realistic paintings. But I think it has a sort of strange humor to it. Anyway, it's definitely not finished so let me know what you think about it thus far. -Tessa

IF your landscape includes a mountain view, you may consider participating in this open sources art project.

OPPORTUNITY | CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS:
Open Source Mountain View
For European settlers, the American landscape presented itself as a space for renewal and innovation. This vision of America presents itself as an uninhabited space: a blank canvas to work upon.

A parallel narrative tells of a land that has been colonised and very nearly shaken empty of all original cultures. This is a polemic now brought to the feet of tech companies based in Silicon Valley.

Google didn't just chose to build offices in Mountain View solely because of cheaper rents for excessive space. Attaching 'Mountain View' to 'Headquarters' suggests a particular philosophy or outlook and a generic stake on landscape.

Mountain View is no longer a place or a panorama, it has been conquered by a tech corporation.

Submissions can range from photography, text, drawing, critical writing and references to other art works that relate to landscape and the above stated themes.

All mountain views are published anonymously unless otherwise specified.

To submit (a) mountain view(s):

Hi everyone! This is Johnny.  Sorry I took so long to upload the picture.  I accidently deleted everything I was working on this morning but thankfully I wrote down all the ranges for the colors in each layer so it didnt take as long to remake.  One of my favorite things to demonstrate when making art is depth which I tried to accomplish in my spiral.  I used darker colors in the middle and lighter colors around the edges.  I also blurred the first few layers to make it appear as if they were farther away.  I used TVfuzz in the middle because I thought it would make a nice contrast with the rest of the picture.  I also plan on using film grain texture on the closer circles and have the texture decrease as it goes further into the spiral.  If you have any suggestions please let me know.  Thanks

I also made these just playing around and trying things out. I thought they were interesting and I just thought I would post them; you don't need to comment on them unless you want to, lol. -Tessa

In this piece I was trying to mimic hair, or something similar with movements of line. I also tried to create a single light source with a sense of light, dark and space within the composition. Not sure if it's completely successful so let me know. -Tessa
